Verdant’s goal is to utilize technology to turn complex problems into simple solutions. That’s why our product is continually improving based on valuable feedback from our clients. Our development process is one of transparency not only between our staff, but with our users.
Our parent company started as a small hazardous materials consulting firm 30 years ago. Since then, we’ve used our field experience working with facility managers as an opportunity to build the most robust and comprehensive environmental tracking software on the market.
Meet Our Key Staff
Ron Petti | CEO
Ron has focused on developing environmental health and safety (EH&S) management systems for multi-facility clients more than 25 years. He founded Verdant in 2012 after leading the growth of its partner company into a full-service operation serving governments, schools, and corporations. Ron provides program assessment, strategy for web-based applications, and maintains direct involvement with clients, product development, and training groups. Ron provides years of technical expertise grounded in building sciences and environmental compliance to a broad range of public and private organizations.
Derek May | Technical Development
Derek has more than 20 years of experience overseeing field collection of asbestos data, data integration, testing services, and reporting for government agencies, schools, and corporations. As an experienced EPA-Certified AHERA Abatement Project Designer and Inspector, Derek has provided oversight of environmental compliance programs and sampling for both small local and large, national companies and organizations. His experience in the industry means he can quickly evaluate the extent of a client’s needs and tailor Verdant’s product to meet them efficiently.
Rick Kay | Chief Technology Officer
Rick is a self-starting senior leader at Verdant with a unique skill set developed from more than 25 years of successful work experience in a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, fabrication, electronics manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, telecommunications, and software development. Rick is responsible for the continued development of Verdant’s software and ensuring our clients receive efficient, centralized access to hazardous materials and environmental compliance data.
Paul Stenbak | Director of Business Developement
Paul is a dynamic, results-oriented sales professional with more than 17 years of experience in Software Development and Marketing. Paul combines his enthusiasm for software technology and teaching to provide practical solutions to EHS management. Paul comes to Verdant with a proven track record of leadership experience acquired at SafeTec, a best in class online chemical inventory and safety data sheet (SDS) firm. For Verdant, Paul facilitates direct client outreach and fostering relationships with clients in the education, industrial, commercial, and health care industries.
Brian Stanford | Technical Development
Brian is an industry leader in the field of hazardous materials management. With more than 24 years of experience, Brian has provided a full range of compliance services, from asbestos/lead surveys through database development and maintenance. As an AHERA Building Inspector/Project Designer, Brian applies his knowledge of facility environmental compliance to Verdant’s software development process. Brian fosters an environment of communication, knowledge sharing, and teamwork, resulting in an impressive list of long-term and high-profile clientele.
Don James | User Interface/Help Desk
Don’s extensive background in environmental data management includes years of “boots-on-the-ground” building assessment and data collection. A certified AHERA Asbestos Inspector, Don applies his environmental background toward the custom development of Verdant’s software for our individual clients. Additional experience in computer design and drafting has lead to the development of advanced interactive PDF mapping for hazardous materials. Don’s responsibilities include building strong client relationships from initial software demonstrations, through final product delivery and training as well as oversight of our help-design-user experience team for Verdant projects.
Adrianne Martin | Senior Programmer/IT Interface
Adrianne has more than 25 years of experience on data management projects, including 11 years of support creating web-based asbestos data management programs for Verdant and its parent company. Her experience in the design of environmental software has been applied to data-management products for large-scale clients including Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo, Intel, and Boise Cascade. Adrianne is responsible for the hands-on, back-end development of Verdant’s software, and plays a key role in maintaining the evolving features of our product.
Bart Phillips | Development Manager
With more than 30 years of experience providing project management, financial, and marketing support, Bart oversees Verdant’s outbound sales and financial analysis to ensure the firm’s continued growth. As a member of the Technology Association of Oregon, Bart serves as our chief advocate, educating clients from Verdant’s various markets on the benefits of maintaining compliance data digitally. As one of the founding members of Verdant’s parent company, Bart has been a key team member for the firm’s development from a local consulting firm to a leading multi-service consulting practice providing facility environmental compliance on a national scale.
Aaron Grittman | IT Services Specialist
Aaron has more than 7 years of experience providing business information technology support and is responsible for managing Verdant’s information technology projects, maintaining current systems and equipment, and coordinates project phases from development to installation. With his background in VMware, Microsoft, and SonicWALL solutions, Aaron provides support for establishing and maintaining company-wide security policies and procedures; and utilizes his knowledge to design and implement secure solutions to meet our client’s needs. His experience maintaining corporate server infrastructure and cloud services is a benefit to Verdant as we develop solutions for access to environmental compliance data.
Sophie Norcott | Creative Design
Sophie applies her 15 years of experience in the field of graphic and web design to Verdant’s user interface and external web presence. Her unique, multidisciplinary skill-set combines graphic, web, and written arts to design innovative interfaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and easy to operate. Sophie is responsible for Verdant’s internet marketing, web design and maintenance, branding/identity design, content creation, and print collateral design; and is the creator of award-winning visual displays within the environmental and engineering industries.
Holly Burnett | Data Integration
Holly Burnett hails from Maryland and recently moved to Bend, OR from Muncie, IN where she earned her Masters Degree in Biology from Ball State University. She has also worked as a field scientist and teaching assistant. Holly’s research skills and ability to organize data is greatly relied on to efficiently and accurately upload customer data to the Verdant system.
