Verdant Web Technologies client, the City of Roanoke, Virginia, has been recognized by the Center for Digital Government for a 15th straight year. The city earned a first place award in the 2016 Digital Cities Survey for locations with a population of 75,000-124,999. The annual survey recognizes cities using technology to improve services and boost productivity.

Key points bolstering Roanoke’s high ranking include the Department of Technology’s efforts to reorganize and restructure for efficiency. Upgrades the City has undertaken have included a transition to electronic recordkeeping for facilities oversight in the area of asbestos management and environmental compliance. Utilizing web-based software from Verdant Web Technologies, the City of Roanoke was able convert a mixture of paper and electronic building hazard records into an easily accessible database.

“For the past three years, Verdant has played a role in helping the City of Roanoke achieve top digital city status,” said Ron Petti, Verdant’s CEO. “We’ve seen the City move from 9th in the nation to first place since implementation of our system. We are proud to be associated with a client who continually strives to embrace technology.”

The software company’s relationship with the City of Roanoke also earned additional recognition from Verdantix, who awarded the team with an EH&S Information Management Award

Roanoke has ranked in the survey’s top 10 every year and has placed first seven times.
