Lead-Based Paint Tracking Moves to the Cloud

Portland-based startup Verdant Web Technologies (Verdant) has launched a major upgrade to its web application that will allow facility managers to easily track lead-based paint reports and information. Based on their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management system, the Verdant module will provide access to lead-based paint inspections, risk assessments, and sample information.

“The beauty of this system is that it is secure, has unlimited user capabilities, and is entirely web-based. Facility managers, maintenance staff, contractors, and consultants can now use their tablets and laptops to instantly view reports, inspections, and activity logs,” says Verdant co-founder Ron Petti. “In the end, the system’s greatest value is the time savings and risk reduction associated with quick access to needed information.”

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Region 10) weighed-in on the growing number of users turning to paperless solutions to manage regulatory information. “We polled the EPA during the software development process. Our goal is to create products that make compliance easy and paperless.” Wallace Reid, EPA Region 10’s Asbestos and Lead Team Leader, clarified that it is “perfectly acceptable not to have a physical copy… if it is being managed as part of an electronic data system.”

Verdant continues to develop web-based modules for facility management that meet the growing needs of schools, universities, hospitals, and corporations throughout the country looking for electronic methods of tracking environmental data.  Verdant’s current software includes databases for asbestos, lead, confined space, drinking water, stormwater/UIC and storage tanks.
